Waldy’s Gourmet Pizza Pies

Wednesday January 13th, 4:37 pm by Serafina.

Located on 6th Avenue, Waldy’s brings you fresh pizza by the pie with a variety of toppings and even a little garden of herbs so you can sprinkle fresh seasonings on top.  Waldy’s isn’t you typical pizza place as it does not serve slices, you have to order by the pie. The individual servings are perfect for lunch, and you can eat it right there. Plus if you ask, they’ll give you anchovies on your pie for free. My favorite type of pie is the chicken with bacon and chipotle peppers, and if you’re feeling crazy, try the clam pie with ricotta or the braised lamb with roasted lemon. All of Waldy’s pizza is made with a special blend of four cheeses, giving it a surprising taste and distinctive smell. It’s a great place to go if you want to indulge and try something different from your everyday pizza place. There’s also pasta at Waldy’s like penne with mozzarella and tomato in a vodka sauce or various salads to choose from if you want to change it up.

Di Fara’s Goes Up To $5 A Slice

Saturday August 1st, 2:31 pm by Serafina.

Yes the news is true, a regular cheese slice at Di Fara’s has gone up from $4 a slice to $5.  This new price increase has not slowed down customers, and the wait for a slice is still as long as ever.  Pie prices have also increased by $5.  Reason for the price change?  It’s due to: NYC tax increase, use of expensive imported ingredients from Italy and Israel, Mr. DeMarco’s (the sole pizza maker) increased amount of ingredients on each pie.  Aren’t you wondering what a $5 slice of pizza tastes like?  I’m a fan of the stuff, go try it out at least once.  Just take the Q train to Avenue J in Brooklyn and you’re less than a block away from Di Fara’s on the corner.

Two Boots Serves Mr. Pink

Monday April 20th, 11:03 pm by Serafina.

Where else can you get a pizza named “The Newman” or “The Dude?”  None other than Two Boots (Named after the shapes of Italy and Louisiana)!  One of the newest locations is right on Grand Street, called Two Boots Tavern.  This specific location of the favorite NYC pizza place has a full bar and five big screen TV’s to enjoy.  It’s open at 5pm during the week and noon on the weekends (Their other locations are open all day).  Order your favorite pizzas like “Mr. Pink” that has marinated chicken, plum tomatoes, fresh garlic and mozzarella.  The “Bayou Beast” has BBQ shrimp, crawfish, andouille, jalapenos, and mozzarella.  Not interested in one of their creations?  Then make your own!  Choose from toppings like artichokes, eggplant, sopressata and more.  You’ll also find wings, po’ boys, salads and calzones here, that way everyone is satisfied.  The environment is fun, bursting with color.  They deliver too!

Patsy’s Pizza In The City

Sunday March 1st, 11:34 pm by Serafina.

Patsy’s Pizzeria has six different locations in Manhattan, so it has to be good.  You’ll find one in every corner of the city, from the Upper East Side, the regular East Side, West Side, Murray Hill, Chelsea, and Greenwich Village, you can’t get away from them and you don’t want to.  This is good pizza that you can trust since 1933.  Patsy’s cooks their pizza in a coal oven, giving it that burnt around the edges crispiness to this thin crusted pizza.  To go along with your pizza, everything else on the menu is all Italian goodness.  Try the Insalata Siciliana, the perfect salad (minus the anchovies for me) filled with shredded mozzarella, capers, red peppers, artichokes, and more all topped with their homemade Italian dressing that is just the right combination of oil and vinegar.  They have all your classic pastas and they do it right, Penne alla Vodka, Rigatoni Bolongese, Fettuccine Alfredo and much more.  While you wait for your food, you’ll be served hot, crusty bread with olive oil, and go ahead, get the calimari that you’re craving, it’s worth it.

Grimaldi’s Pizza Under The Bridge

Friday January 23rd, 5:56 pm by Serafina.

Grimaldi’s is located right under the Brooklyn Bridge, the perfect place to enjoy a pizza and look over the river onto downtown Manhattan.  Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn is where you want to go to, don’t go to any other one, here you will get the full experience!  Their coal-fired brick oven maintains a scorching 850F degrees, that way the pizza dough has a perfect crispy bite.  Everything is fresh and the line is always long.  Get a pie to go if you don’t want to wait for a table (the line for pies to go is much shorter).  The rules are very strict here, there’s no delivery and no credit cards, so take the train and bring some cash.  Patsy Grimaldi has been making pizza since he was 10, and they have only gotten better since.  Take a stroll over the Brooklyn Bridge and find your way over to Grimaldi’s, you can’t miss it!
