Congratulations to Meb Keflizghi a U.S. citizen born in the African nation of Eritrea and Derartu Tulu of Ethiopia!! The male and female winners of the marathon today finished out at 2:09:15 (Keflizghi) and 2:28:52 (Tulu). The New York City Marathon Is Tomorrow!
Watch this amazing marathon tomorrow, in person or on TV! The New York City Marathon is still going 26.2 miles strong, going through all 5 boroughs. If you haven’t seen these runners, make sure to watch it this year because it is a sight to see. More than 100,000 applied to run, and the energy that is shown from the crowd is one more thing that makes this city so great. Watch them complete the race and cross the finish line in Central Park, then you’ll know what this city is about. Leave your car at home tomorrow and take public transportation, there is sure to be a lot of traffic. A Night Out @ A Staten Island Yankees Game
With only a handful of games left, your chance to see the Staten Island Yankees this season is getting slimmer. Take the Staten Island Ferry (which is free!) and walk right over to the ballpark at St. George. Tickets will cost you only $12, but if you prepare ahead of time and you gather a group of 10 to go to the game, you can do a special package that is $16 per person with unlimited food, soda and water! I highly recommend this deal, is doesn’t get any better than all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, and grilled chicken sandwiches (my favorite choice). Not only do you get to watch a great game, dance the chicken dance, but you also get a spectacular view of the city right from your seat. Try and do that at any other stadium. If you want to indulge in popcorn, cracker jacks or any other snack, the price isn’t nearly as high as they are at the major leagues. A Staten Island Yankees game is the perfect way to enjoy your evening with the family, friends, or on a date. Welcome to the Staten Island Ferry, something that everyone will enjoy, even if you’re not commuting with it. Hop on the ferry located in downtown Manhattan, for free! Yes, this ferry ride is free. It goes back and forth from St. George on Staten Island to Whitehall Street in Manhattan. It services 20 million people a year, as commuters need a way to travel between the islands. There is even a snack bar on the ship where you can enjoy food to munch on and drinks. You get to pass by Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty aboard the ship, plus you get a great view of the city and it’s buildings. They run frequently, so you won’t be waiting for too long. Hopefully you’ll get on one of the new 3 ferries. So get on this shockingly orange ferry and make your way to Staten Island. You don’t have to stay when you get there, most of us just run right around the corner to catch the next ferry coming back to the city. |
