Just opened in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, SkinnySkinny is the way organic soaps and body products should be made and sold. When you walk into the shop, you’re hit with a great aroma of all different kinds and you know you’ll want to take something home. SkinnySkinny sells various body products and the inventory is kept fresh by the creators so you can always pick up something new. The shop in Brooklyn even offers soap making classes if you want to try making your own product. It’ll cost you $90 for a 3 hour class and you’ll get to take home a batch of soap that you made yourself. Check out the shop online and in Brooklyn as it’s a very original store.

All of you steak lovers have been to Peter Lugar’s at least once, and if you haven’t, make your reservations now (718-387-7400). Since 1887, Peter Lugar’s has been an all time favorite for those of us who crave an amazing steak once in a while, and based on that fact, the place fills up fast. Make your reservations a few weeks in advance because you won’t be able to get a table on just a moments notice. Not even that, but once you make your reservations and you get there, you might have to wait a little bit to get your table.
All of this waiting is worth it because each steak here is specially selected and goes through an aging process. Go with a group of your friends and family, then order for the table. The steak menu is very simple and goes as follows, “Steak for two,” “Steak for three,” and “Steak for four.” Everyone shares and also get a couple of sides, which complement your steak. I recommend the creamed spinach as it’s so smooth, rich and not too creamy. Once you get your steak, each piece is soft and buttery, the first bite is the best. You’ll wonder why you haven’t been coming here for years. Try dipping your steak into Peter Lugar’s special steak sauce, they pride themselves on it and it’s better than the traditional sauce you’d imagine. The bread at Peter Lugar’s is even amazing. They’ll give you a bowl for the table with a variety, each type fresh and soft on the inside. The place is no frills and is upfront about what they stand for, the best steak you’ll ever have. Located right by the Williamsburg Bridge, you won’t miss it.

How great would it be if 5 separate designers came together and opened a Brooklyn shop that sold home goods, furniture, apparel and accessories? This great dream has come true in the form of a new store in Dumbo, Brooklyn called Trunk. The store is a clean and clear great area in which these five designers can showcase the items they have for sale from items for your living room to clothing for your night out. Next time you’re in Dumbo walk over 68 Jay Street and check out Trunk.

Purple Yam is a Filipino, pan-Asian restaurant located in Brooklyn and has dishes that you don’t see everywhere. The restaurant is brand new and is by the owners of Cendrillon, which used to be in SoHo, but closed this past March. When you walk into Purple Yam, the smell of the food takes over and you want to order everything. The food is family style, so order for the table and share. Try the Korean meatballs, which comes with kimchi and is great as a first taste of Purple Yam. The bibimbap is a dish that you have to try, it comes in a clay pot with crispy rice at the bottom and vegetables on top like shitake mushrooms, spinach, squash and gingko nuts. Another favorite is the Chicken Adobo that comes in a mixture of garlic, vinegar, and soy sauce. Experiment and try everything on the menu!
